This project is a compilation of various Skype videos. I wanted to convey the frustration that I seem to have with a lot of these more synthetic forms of communication. I think it is excellent that we have to opportunity to communicated with such a wide range of people, sometimes the programs and glitches seems to get in the way of actual conversation. The work is responding to Okwui Ewezor's "The Black Box", specifically his ideas about globalization eliminating distance.

Visual Project 03 Proposal

I was interested in creating a video that responded to the changes in communication as a result of advancements in technology. I wanted to create a film composed of various bit and pieces of Skype conversations. I didn't want the conversation to be coherent. Instead I want the film to be somewhat disorienting and almost too quick for the viewer to understand what is going on.
